After Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) decided last Tuesday, August 3, to cancel a vote on oil spill legislation (S. 3663) after he became concerned that there would be several Democratic defections, renewable energy supporters are preparing to bring the legislation to a vote when the Senate returns in September.

Solar Power Questions:
What are your opinions on these potential thesis statements?
I'm just looking for opinion / constructive criticism on these potential "topics". All pretty similar, one will be used for the basis of a presentation.
Are they structurally sound, can you recommend one over the three, why etc. etc.
Thesis:
1. Most emissions of carbon dioxide come from the burning of fossil fuel, alternative energy is more sustainable for life and is also more cost effective.
2. A majority of scientists and governments now accept that human activity is causing changes to the earth’s climate. Alternative energy is not only sustainable but can provide a better quality of life.
3. Averting a massive environmental disaster is not out of our reach, although if we continue to treat the early signs with apathy, it soon will be. Alternative energy is not only sustainable but can provide a better quality of life.
Combine 1 and 3 and I think you have a winner. Tell about the carbon dioxide emmissions, then averting the disaster, then how to fix it with alternate energy.
The burning of fossil fuel accounts for much of the carbon dioxide emmisions in our atmosphere. Massive enviornmental disaster awaits us, but salvation is not yet out of our reach. Alternative energy is not only sustainable, but will help provide a better life for us all.
