Alternative Energy Oil Spill

Alternative Energy Oil Spill
Now That The Gulf Spill Is Finally Plugged, Let's Drill, Baby, Drill
As I mentioned last Monday night in my Outside the Box, I did not make it to Turks and Caicos, but did end up in Baton Rouge for a special seminar on the Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill. I have both good news (or maybe more like less-bad news) and bad news.
Death Toll From Jamaica Violence Climbs Over 40

Solar Power Questions:

Will the Oil spill and the government response to the oil spill help or hinder Obama's popularity ratings ?

Will the oil spill and subsequent govt. response help or hinder Obama's job approval? and chances for re-election in 2012? Will this finally be the stake in the heart of off-shore drilling and will more people adapt to renewable energy/Alternative fuels?

Neither.
Americans have a short attention span. Whatever the topic "du jour" is in 2012, is what will help or hinder Obama's re-election chances.
And no, I don't think even this disaster will be enough for Americans to demand the government tackle alternative energy sources. There's too many petro-dollars in Washington, and that won't stop.
Heck, even while the oil was polluting our Gulf, BP has donated more to Republicans than Democrats. What does that tell you?
