Hello! My family is in the process of designing a new home. We would love to be able to design it - from the start - to be green. In particular, we'd like to see the home 'off the grid'.
Do you know of any starting points or resources that could offer some information about green residential energy alternatives?

Thank you all. Jason - we could do a combo of wind, solar and perhaps hydro. We haven't picked out a lot yet, so we're pretty open to alternatives. I'd like to have a plan in place before we shop for a lot.
The options that you have are:
Solar energy (Solar generator, Solar thermal system, Solar cooker)
Hydro energy
Wind energy
